No. 4 Pirates triple Boxers, 3-0

SPOKANE, Wash. — Karl Muelheims was a one-man scoring machine, finding the net three times to lead No. 4 nationally ranked Whitworth to a 3-0 win over visiting Pacific in men's soccer action on Sunday afternoon at the Whitworth Soccer Field.

The Pirates remained undefeated with the win, improving to 12-0-1. They are on top of the Northwest Conference Standings at 8-0-1. Pacific fell to 4-9-1 and to 2-6-1 in the NWC.

Muelheims wasted no time in starting his scoring barrage, notching his first goal two and a half minutes into the match (2:28). He scored again at 32:13 and completed the hat trick at 62:36. It was his 13th, 14th and 15th goals of the season.

Pacific had pair of shots on goal but Pirate goalkeeper Timmy Costa saved both to keep the shutout.

"Whitworth is a very good team that will do well at the national level," said Boxers head coach Eric Mild. "We got behind early and played on our heels after that. They had only four shots on goal. We had some good play, I thought we had some positives to build on."

The Boxers will hit the pitch next on Friday (Oct. 23), hosting Linfield under the lights at Hanson Stadium at 7 p.m.
