SPOKANE, Wash. — Northwest Conference leading Whitworth hit .311 on the night during an impressive 25-15, 25-17, 25-14 ambush of Pacific in conference volleyball action on Friday night in Spokane.
The Pirates kept its two-game lead in the conference and improved to 11-2 in the NWC and to 17-6 overall. The Pirates evened the season series with Pacific after the Boxers topped Whitworth in five sets on October 2. Pacific, who had won six of seven matches recently, dropped its third straight match and is now 5-8 in conference play and 8-13 overall.
The Pirates dominated most of the night and right out of the gate, jumping out to an 8-0 lead in the first set. Pacific's only lead came early in the second set when they held a 4-1 margin.
Marie Rewick led Pacific with six kills. Karissa Koma had 10 digs, while
Ciara Smith and
Morgan Mendicino had three assisted blocks each. Cassandra Mendoza and Brenna Broul led the Pirates with 11 kills and Mallorie Schoesler had 18 digs.
The Boxers will continue its eastern Washington road trip with a 5 p.m. match-up on Saturday at Whitman.
