FOREST GROVE – Pacific proved dominant from top to bottom in the order Saturday, picking up their first Northwest Conference women's tennis victory of the season with an 8-1 defeat of Puget Sound at the Holce Tennis Courts.

"This was a great team victory today," said Pacific Head Coach Brian Jackson.  "I was really proud of how we fought as a team and played like the more experienced squad.  The doubles was really big for us and gave us a lot of confidence going into the singles.  I am very proud of these ladies and their hard work is starting to pay off."

Pacific set themselves up well for the match by taking care of business in three challenging doubles matches.  Kaitlyn Lomartire (So., Portland, Ore.) and Mai Kobayashi (Fr., Waikoloa, Hawaii) started things off with an 8-2 win over Elizabeth Chao and Malia Ford at No. 1.  Jelena Vidovic (Fr., Vancouver, Wash.) and Sidney Smith (Fr., Olympia, Wash.) followed with an 8-5 win over Tresa Bild and Alison Goo at No. 2.  Carlee Rhodaback (Jr., Albany, Ore.) and Kenani Kea (Fr., Mililani, Hawaii) completed the sweep with an 8-5 decision at No. 3 over Farrell Ahlf and Tamara Runnicles.

Lomartire made it a 4-0 Pacific lead as she swept through No 1 singles over Chao, 6-0, 6-1.  Vidovic secured the team victory in the No. 2 flight, taking a 6-1, 6-0 decision from Ford.  Kea followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Goo in the No. 6 flight.

Ahlf gave the Loggers their lone win of the day at No. 3, scoring a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Smith.  Kobayashi continued the Boxers' winning trend with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Bild at No. 4 while Rhodaback fought through a second set tiebreaker to end the day with a 6-4, 7-6 (1) win over Runnicles.
