FOREST GROVE – The Pacific women's lacrosse team finished the day with an advantage in draw controls, but the Oberlin Yeowomen left Hanson Stadium on Friday with an 11-4 victory over the Boxers.

After nearly 14 scoreless minutes, Oberlin struck first when Sydney Garvis scored with 16:13 left in the opening half. The following draw was controlled by
Amy Mayhugh (Sr., Tigard, Ore.) and resulted in a goal for
April Lanz (So., Oregon City, Ore.) off an assist from
Paisley Hiefield (So., Portland, Ore.) at the 15:38 mark.

The tie was broken at 12:25 on a free position goal by Garvis, who also scored the third Oberlin goal at 10:30.

Mayhugh netted her first goal of the day at 7:46 off an assist from
Meg Chapman (So., Woodinville, Wash.), before Oberlin scored the final two goals of the half, including the eventual game winning goal by Suzanna Doak at 3:45 in the first half.

Following Mayhugh's first half goal, Oberlin scored seven-straight goals until Chapman assisted on a second Mayhugh goal to cut the score to 10-3 with Oberlin ahead.

One final Yeowomen goal was answered by a Lanz goal at 1:02 on the clock, as Mayhugh tallied an assist.

Pacific held a 10-7 advantage in draw controls over Oberlin on the day.

Mayhugh and Lanz each scored twice, while Chapman posted two assists and Mayhugh and Hiefield both finished with one assist each.

Chapman led Pacific with four draw controls and seven caused turnovers, while
Adrienne Salzwedel (So., Beaverton, Ore.) posted nine saves in goal and five ground balls.

The Boxers return to Northwest Conference action on Sunday with a noon first draw in Walla Walla, Wash., against Whitman.
