SALEM, Ore. – Pacific used the spring sun as an excuse to put their game on cruise control Saturday, rolling for a 9-0 shutout of Willamette in Northwest Conference men's tennis action at the Willamette Tennis Courts.

"It was a great day for the men.  We played some solid tennis," said head coach Brian Jackson.  "We had solid performances in the doubles all of the way through and I was really happy with Ben (Ryweck) and Jason (Voss) finishing to sweep, which allowed us to rest some guys in the singles."

Brennan Faith (So., Redondo Beach, Calif.) and Grayson Frazier (Sr., La Canada, Calif.) opened doubles with their 10th win of the season, easily dispatching Gunnar Lee and Jacob Blaisdell in the No. 1 flight 8-1.  Josh Bernstein (So., Novato, Calif.) and Reuben Mulhern (So., Boise, Idaho) added an 8-3 win over Blake Brash and Sam Wexman at No. 2 while Ben Ryweck (Jr., Port Townsend, Wash.) and Jason Voss (Sr., Jamul, Calif.) earned their second win as a team with an 8-4 victory over Shrujan Kalidindi and Derek Lund at No. 3.

It was the bottom of the lineup in singles that secured the team victory for the Boxers.  Wesley Upton (So., Hillsboro, Ore.), playing in just his second singles match of the season, scored a 6-2, 6-2 win over Derek Crain at No. 6 while Ryweck secured the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Kalidindi to improve to 3-0 on the season.  Clark Wininger (So., San Francisco, Calif.) followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Lee at No. 2, improving 9-6 on the year.  Oscar Wight (Fr., Adelaide, Australia) improved to 5-4 with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Brash at No. 3.

Giancarlo Battaglia (Sr., Sherman Oaks, Calif.) and Voss both survived three-set matches to complete the sweep.  Battaglia improved to a team-beat 13-4 on the year with his 6-2, 6-7 (6-8), 10-5 win over Jack Schreiber at No. 1, while Voss improved to 4-1 with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 victory over Wexman at No. 4.

With the win, Pacific improved to 13-5 overall, 9-2 NWC.  Willamette dropped to 4-14, 4-8 NWC.  The Boxers finish the regular season on Sunday, playing a key match at Lewis & Clark.
