The Pacific University volleyball team dropped a 25-23, 25-15, 25-20 decision to host Linfield on Saturday in McMinnville.
The Boxers (13-11, 7-7 NWC) were led by senior setter
Jamie Steach (Pasco, Wash.), who had a double double with 26 kills and 11 digs; plus senior Tiare Kaoupa (Nanakuli, Hawaii), who had 10 kills in the loss.
The Wildcats (11-, 6-8 NWC) had a 64% side-out percentage compared to 50% for Pacific, plus they posted a .120 to .101 advantage in hitting percentage in the win. Darian Stedman had a match-high 11 kills to lead Linfield.
The host Wildcats led from start to finish in the first two sets for a two-set to none advantage. After the intermission, the Boxers rallied from an early 7-4 deficit to take a 15-11 lead on a
Morgan Mendicino (San Diego, Calif.) kill. Four-straight points by Linfield tied the set at 15, then followed by a service error, a kill and an attack error put the home team ahead for the rest of the set to secure the straight-set win.
The Boxers will close out the season with back-to-back home matches on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. vs. Willamette and Saturday, Nov. 5 vs. Pacific Lutheran at 5 p.m. at the Stoller Center.
