The Pacific University picked up a 25-20, 25-18, 29-27 win over host Willamette on Friday night in Salem. It is the second road win of the season for the Boxers, who earlier this year defeated NWC member, Lewis & Clark on Sept. 24.
The Boxers (9-8, 3-4 NWC) out hit the Wildcats by a .195 to a .157 margin as freshman
Karlee Duncan (Bend, Ore.) pounded a team-high 19 kills to lead Pacific. For Duncan, it is her fourth-straight match with double-figure kills and the 19 kills tie a season high. Senior
Tiare Kaopua (Nanakuli, Hawai'I) added 12 kills to go along with a pair of blocks and five digs.
The Wildcats (4-11, 2-5 NWC) were led by Alexa Dowdell, who had 11 kills to go along with 11 digs , six digs and four block assists. Teammate Madison Haley had six block assists as Willamette recorded eight team blocks in the defeat.
For Pacific, it was an all-around effort that contributed to the win as senior
Lia Zablan (Ewa Beach, Hawai'i) and sophomore
Anna VanderWeyst (Lacey, Wash.) contributed 17 and 10 digs, respectively. Plus, freshman
Bailey Servoss (Mount Vernon, Wash.) had her hand on five blocks (a block solo and four block assists); in addition, senior setter
Jamie Steach (Pasco, Wash.) had her third-straight double double with 32 assists and 10 digs to go along with two service aces.
Next, Pacific will travel to Pacific Lutheran in Tacoma, Washington on Saturday at 5 p.m. before coming home to host Whitman (Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.) and Whitworth (Sept. 15 at 5 p.m.).
