Webster wins three as Boxer women, men fall to Whitman
FOREST GROVE —
Rachel Webster won twice individually as the Boxers picked up five event victories on Friday evening at the Forest Grove Aquatic Center in a pair of losses to the visiting Whitman Blues.
The Whitman men topped Pacific 141-63, while the Blues women finished the night with a 124-75 victory.
Pacific opened the evening with a victory in the women's 400-medley relay as the team of
Alissa Frazier (Oregon City, Ore.),
Kayla Knock (Colorado Springs, Colo.),
Rachel Webster (Normandy Park, Wash.) and
Serita Solis (Poulsbo, Wash.) raced to first with a time of 4:10.36.
The Boxer men finished second in the same event as
Aukai Kea (Mililani, Hawaii),
Derek Dunn (Springfield, Ore.),
Raymond Miller (Portland, Ore.) and
Kevin Quan (Portland, Ore.) posted a time of 3:46.76.
Charles Morse (Forest Grove, Ore.) and
Ben Reich (Sandpoint, Idaho) earned points for the Boxers in the 1000-freestyle, with Morse finishing second at 10:33.14 and Reich swimming to fourth at 12:26.63.
The 200-freestyle saw
Lauren McWilliams (Gilbert, Ariz.) and
Monica Krubeck (Brush Prairie, Wash.) pick up points with fourth and fifth place finishes, respectively. McWilliams finished at 2:12.27, while Krubeck posted a 2:14.25 mark.
Miller picked up the first victory for the Pacific men as he finished at 1:49.64 in the 200-freestyle. Kea also earned points in the event for the Boxers with a fourth place time of 1:58.76.
Solis and
Callie Hinson (Salem, Ore.) finished second and third in the 50-freestyle with times of 25.54 and 27.16, respectively, while
Colleen Murphy (Valdez, Alaska) wrapped up fifth with a time of 27.37.
Quan battled to second in the men's 50-freestyle with a time of 22.66, followed by Dunn in third at 23.46. In his first collegiate meet,
Woodey Greer (Sandy, Utah) earned another point for Pacific in fifth with a time of 24.16.
Frazier picked up first place points for Pacific in the 200-IM at 2:14.71, while Knock earned a point with a 2:24.49 finish.
Michael Sakai (Honolulu, Hawaii) recorded a time of 2:04.36 and finished second in the 200-IM, while
James Michael Sherman (Portland, Ore.) earned another point with a time of 2:22.32 in fifth place.
Webster earned her second overall victory and first individual win in the 200-butterfly at 2:14.88, roughly three seconds back of her Pacific school record of 2:11.84.
Maggie Stevenson (Corvallis, Ore.) recorded a 2:47.62 and finished fifth.
Sakai and Morse finished second and third, respectively in the men's 200-butterfly. Sakai finished at 2:02.78, while Morse posted a 2:04.02.
Solis and
Stephanie Bultman (Bothell, Wash.) finished the 100-freestyle in second and fifth, respectively, to earn points for the Boxers. Solis finished at 55.87 and Bultman posted a time of 1:01.37.
Quan found himself in another battle with Whitman's Clark Sun in the 100-freestyle, finishing second with a time of 50.12. Dunn and Greer earned Pacific points in fourth (51.86) and fifth (54.22), respectively.
Frazier,
Alex Winslow (Bend, Ore.) and Krubeck finished second, third and fourth in the women's 200-backstroke. Frazier's 2:18.14 was the top mark on the night for the Boxer women in the event.
Miller finished third in the 200-backstroke at 2:08.78.
Webster won the 500-freestyle at 5:29.73, while Morse finished second on the men's side at 5:07.66.
Knock was a third place finisher in the 200-breaststroke at 2:38.81.
The evening ended with Pacific finishing third in the women's 400-freestyle relay at 4:01.77 and the men in third with a time of 3:35.81.
Pacific hosts Whitworth on Saturday, with a scheduled start of 11 a.m.
