FOREST GROVE — The Pacific men's soccer team wrapped the 2016 regular season with a 1-0 home victory over rival George Fox, thanks to an early goal by sophomore
Shawn Opfer at Hanson Stadium on Saturday.
After junior goalkeeper
Leyton Thommasen (Des Moines, Wash.) recorded back-to-back saves in the 23rd minute, the Boxers pushed to their offensive end and picked up a free kick opportunity thanks to a Bruin foul.

Weli Alamillo (Aiea, Hawaii) sent an in-swinging free kick off the head of sophomore
Peter Vizzoni (Snohomish, Wash.). Opfer (Elk Grove, Calif.) pounced on the loose ball in front of the net and tapped in his second goal of the season.
Thommasen continued a strong performance in the first half, with three saves in teh final 10 minutes of play.
A physical second half saw one shot on goal, as senior
Elan Yogi (Mililani, Hawaii) saw his shot blocked by George Fox goalkeeper Ricardo Sotelo in the 57th minute.
As time expired on a rainy Saturday match, the Boxers earned their 10th victory of the season and eighth in conference play. Pacific's 27 points in conference play, put the Boxers second in the conference table at the end of the regular season.
Prior to Saturday's match, Pacific recognized seniors Yogi and undergraduate assistant coach Daniel Yates for their collegiate careers.
