Boxers sweep Bearcats to end season

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — The Pacific women's tennis team capped off the 2016 season with a 9-0 sweep of Willamette on Senior Day at the Holce Tennis Complex.
Pacific finishes the season 7-10 overall and they were 5-7 in the Northwest Conference. Willamette closed out at 0-15 on the year and 0-12 in conference play.
The Boxers celebrated Senior Day with wins for their two lone seniors.
Danielle Wicks won at No. 5 singles (6-3, 6-2) and
Carlee Rhodaback did the same on court four by the same score. Rhodaback and Wicks also teamed up to win in doubles on court three, 8-4.
"That was a great way for them to finish," said head coach
Brian Jackson. "They have been a very supportive part of our program and an important part."
Danielle du Plooy and
Kaitlyn Lomartire won easily at No. 1 doubles (8-1) and
Marissa Hayashi and
Mai Kobayashi did the same at No. 2 (8-1).
In singles play, Lomartire sat out and du Plooy moved up to No. 1 and defeated Alexis Gjurasic, 6-1, 6-2.
Chantelle Baclay triumphed at No. 2 (6-1, 6-1) and
Chealsey Rosebrook won at No. 6 (6-2, 6-1). The Bearcats defaulted at No. 3.
The Boxers finished the season in sixth place in the Northwest Conference, three matches out of a playoff spot.
