Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Boxers, Crusaders draw even 0-0

BELTON, Texas – Two nights after a five-goal showing against Howard Payne, the Pacific women's soccer team found itself in a defensive showdown against Mary Hardin-Baylor as the two sides finished in a 0-0 draw at the Cru Sports Plex.

The first half of the match saw only six combined shots between the Crusaders (2-1-1) and the Boxers (2-1-1), with Pacific sophomore Kailey Hifumi (Mililani, Hawaii) springing into action with a save in the 28th minute.

Hifumi's stop in the opening half was the only save of the opening 45 minutes.

The second period was more of the same as neither defense allowed their opponent any good looks at the frame, with Hifumi being called into action twice. The final offensive action of regulation came from senior Deanna Quadrel (Richland, Wash.) who sent her 88th minute shot high, allowing time to expire on regulation.

Hifumi parried away the lone shot of the opening period of overtime, pushing the match to a second overtime period between the two sides.

Pacific's best offensive chance came in the 106th minute as senior Holly Chang-Northway (Eugene, Ore.) forced Crusaders keeper Courtney Craig to make her first save of the evening.

Time expired before either team could put another shot on frame, as the two sides settled for a draw.

Hifumi recorded four saves on the night.

Next up for the Boxers is the Northwest Conference opener on September 17 against George Fox. The Boxers and Bruins are set for a noon kickoff at Hanson Stadium.
