Senior Breezy Brookbank (Burien, Wash.) scored her first collegiate goal in the 29th minute, firing a shot to the far post from 13 yards out to propel the Pacific University women's soccer team to a 1-0 shutout win over Northwest.
The win is the first of the season for the Boxers and the first at Pacific for head coach Steve Lucas, who was hired in February.
The Eagles (2-1) managed to outshoot Pacific, 11-10 in the loss. Reserve Whitney Weaver shared in game-high honors with four shots.
Boxers' goalkeeper sophomore Kailey Hifumi (Miliani, Hawaii) made four saves for her third career shutout and first of 2016. Hifumni kept a clean sheet in the 61st minute when she arose from the box to take away a chance from the Eagles.
Pacific senior midfielder Holly Chang-Northway (Eugene, Ore.) had a team-high four shots in the win. Brookbank and Chang-Northway each had a shot on goal.
The Boxers will carry the momentum from its win to a trip to the Lone Star State, where they will face a pair of West Region foes in Howard Payne on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 5 p.m. (PST) and Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. (PST).
