REDLANDS, Calif. –
Kanoa Terrazas and
Woodey Greer opened their collegiate scoring accounts on Thursday evening as the Boxers dropped a 3-2 decision at No. 21 Redlands.
The Boxers (1-2) fell behind the Bulldogs at Farquhar Field early when Cameron Doody tallied for the home side in the eighth minute. The Bulldogs struck again soon after when Chase Boone scored in the 13th minute.
Â
"We were a bit nervous to start and gave them the first two goals," said head coach
Eric Mild. "We played with them after that and settled in."
Pacific held the Bulldogs from scoring for the remainder of the period, but conceded a 49th minute goal to Ben Thompson to put Redlands up 3-0.
Â
The final ten minutes of the match went in Pacific's favor as junior
Weli Alamillo's (Aiea, Hawaii) free kick found the head of Terrazas (El Cajon, Calif.) for the freshman's first career goal in the 82nd minute.
Â
Alamillo again found the head of a freshman in the 87th minute when he sent a corner kick off the head of Greer (Sandy, Utah) and into the back of the net for the freshman's first career tally.
"I'm really proud of the our team and the way they competed and fought hard until the end," Mild added. "There were a lot of positives to take from the match against a very strong opponent."
Â
Pacific's junior goalkeeper
Leyton Thommasen (Des Moines, Wash.) recorded three saves in the match.
Â
The Boxers return to action in California on Friday evening, with a 7 p.m. scheduled kickoff at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
