Three Boxers –
Karlee Duncan,
Morgan Mendicino and
Ellie Parker – each had a double double to lead the Pacific University volleyball team to a 27-25, 27-25,30-28 win over No. 25 Pacific Lutheran on Friday night in Tacoma.
The win marks the second-straight year that the Boxers have won on the road at PLU and raises its record to 16-6 overall and 9-5 in the Northwest Conference. The Lutes, who entered the match on a 10-match winning streak, fall to 17-4 overall and 11-2 in the Northwest Conference.
Duncan, a sophomore from Bend, tied a career-high with 22 kills to go along with 15 digs to lead a Pacific attack, who hit .227 in the win. Junior
Ellie Parker (Beaverton, Ore.) had 50 assists and 15 digs; plus, junior
Morgan Mendicino (San Diego, Calif.) had 11 kills and 13 digs for their 11
th and seventh double double, respectively.
The win was a complete team effort with freshman
Jordan Zweifel (Tillamook, Ore.) and sophomore
Bailey Servoss (Mount Vernon, Wash.), who each added 11 kills. Senior
Anna VanderWeyst (Lacey, Wash.) added a match-high 35 digs and sophomore
Milana Ivkovic (Beaverton, Ore.) had five kills, six digs and four blocks. Seniors
Kelly Wahl (Richland, Wash.) and
Karissa Komo (Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) and sophomore
Mackenzie Brown (Klamath Falls, Ore.) each came off the bench to lift the Boxers.
Next, Pacific will host Whitworth (Friday, Nov. 3) and Whitman (Saturday, Nov. 4) to wrap up the 2017 season.
