Pacific Football Ends Season with 35-7 Loss to No. 8 Linfield

21 seniors for the Pacific University football team took to Ledbetter Field at Hanson Stadium for the final time on Saturday in a 35-7 loss to No. 8 Linfield.

Pacific ends the season with a 4-4 mark and 4-3 record against Northwest Conference foes. It is the third time since 2010 that Pacific has had four conference wins in 2014 and in 2015. The win for Linfield secures the visiting Wildcats an 8-1 overall mark and its third-straight Northwest Conference undefeated mark at 7-0.

The visitors from McMinnville built a 35-0 lead on a quick-strike offense. All five touchdown drives came under three minutes – four of the five came in five plays or less. Linfield quarterback Wyatt Smith completed 10 of 14 passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns in the win. J.D. Laswell caught both of his passes from Smith for touchdowns. The passing game for Linfield was complemented by the running of Chidubem Nnoli, who ran 19 times for 113 yards and two more touchdowns.

Pacific running back Brandon Boyd (Gilroy, Calif.) ended his Pacific career with 24 carries for 69 yards and a touchdown. The 69-yard effort by Boyd put him over 1,000 for the season and became the first ball carrier over 1,000 yards since Mike Connor in 1984 (1,072). He is just the third 1,000-yard rusher in Pacific football history. His one-yard plunge gave him nine rushing touchdowns on the season. The nine rushing touchdowns ties Al Navarro (1988) for second in a season in Boxer history.
