Greer tallies, Boxers fall in season finale

NEWBERG, Ore. — Sophomore Woodey Greer netted his first goal of the season in the Boxers' season finale, 2-1 loss at George Fox on Saturday.

Greer (Sandy, Utah) opened the scoring for Pacific (8-9-1, 5-8-1 NWC) with a goal in the 13th minute from the center of the penalty area.

The Bruins (5-14-1, 3-10-1 NWC) responded in the 41st minute as Trevor Martin netted his first goal of the season.

After heading to the break even, the Boxers and Bruins battled into the 78th minute when Gabe Ramirez fed Daniel Alonzo a pass that Alonzo turned into his third goal of the year, giving the Bruins a 2-1 advantage.

THE GAME WAS OVER WHEN... The Boxers had a pair of late scoring chances denied by defensive blocks, with the final Pacific shot coming in the 83rd minute when senior Ikaika Urasaki (Kaneohe, Hawaii) had his shot blocked.

STAT OF THE GAME... Freshman Braden Kojima (Kamuela, Hawaii) played the full 90 minutes on Saturday, giving him a season total of 1433 minutes played. The freshman defensive midfielder finished the year second on the Pacific roster in minutes played, behind only junior defender Keilian MacCulloch (Glengarry, Ontario Canada).

HAT TRICK, QUICK FACTS...
1... Sophomore goalkeeper Jack Orum (Eden, Utah) recorded two saves in his fifth career start.

2... Senior Ben Hopwood (Morgan Hill, Calif.) was the second Boxer in the match with a shot on frame, but saw his turned away by George Fox goalkeepr Andrew Phillis.

3... The Boxers wrap the 2017 season 8-9-1 overall and 5-8-1 in Northwest Conference play.
