Five seniors honored as Boxers conclude 2017 slate

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — Pacific junior Adina Goodwin scored her second goal in two days as the Boxers fell 2-1 to the visiting Puget Sound Loggers on Sunday afternoon.

The two sides battled through a scoreless half before the Loggers (13-4-3, 11-3-2 NWC) scored the opener in the 51st minute, as Lura Morton netted a goal from five yards out.

The Puget Sound lead was short lived as Pacific (1-15-4, 1-12-3) responded junior Brooklynn Smith (Brea, Calif.) delivered a corner kick, in the 58th minute, to the head of Goodwin (Tualatin, Ore.), who redirected the ball into the back of the net for her second goal of the season and weekend.

Puget Sound again broke the deadlock in the 71st minute when Genevieve Cheatham netted her seventh goal of the season. Cheatham's tally proved the winner as the two sides went the final 19 minutes without another goal.

THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN... Cheatham's goal came after Pacific's final shot on frame, but the Loggers put another shot on frame in the 83rd, but saw it parried away.

STAT OF THE GAME... Goodwin became the lone Boxer to score in back-to-back games during the 2017 season.
