Box Score FOREST GROVE — J.B. Ewell lead all scorers with 21 points, while also snagging eight rebounds in Pacific's 63-58 home loss to No. 8 Whitworth on Saturday at the Stoller Center.

Whitworth opened the game on a 4-0 run before Davis Holly (Bend, Ore.) put Pacific on the board with a 3-pointer that was followed by a free throw make by Nate Olowo (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) to tie the game at 4-4.

Olowo would score six-straight points for Pacific, ultimately giving Pacific a 9-7 advantage over the Pirates. A 3-pointer from Whitworth would give the Pirates a one-point lead, which was quickly reversed when a jumper from Ewell (Portland, Ore.) gave the Boxers a one-point advantage.

The two sides went back-and-forth for much of the opening five minutes, but at the 13:31 mark the Pirates began a 9-0 run to take a 20-11 lead. Ewell would score 17-straight points for Pacific in the opening half keeping the Boxers within striking distance of the Pirates as the period began to come to a close.

Christopher Evans (Seaside, Calif.) scored the final point of the half when his free throw helped send the two sides to the break with Whitworth up 38-27.

Whitworth continued to hold off the Boxers into the second half and extended its lead to 14 at the 9:30 mark, holding a 52-38 lead.

A free throw from Olowo with 6:27 left in regulation sparked a 7-0 Boxer run that pulled Pacific within six of the visitors. Holly and Olowo cut the Pirates lead to four with 1:14 left in regulation, but time was not on Pacific's side as the Pirates escaped Forest Grove with a 63-58 victory.

Ewell finished the night with 21 points and eight rebounds, while also recording three steals. Olowo scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the post.
