Nate Olowo finished with 14 rebounds, while
J.B. Ewell scored 16 points in Pacific's 57-54 home loss to Linfield inside of the Stoller Center on Tuesday night.
Pacific ran out to a 13-2 lead over the opening six minutes of play, after Ewell (Portland, Ore.) opened the scoring at the 18:54 mark and
Lane Josi (Hillsboro, Ore.) closed out the run with a free throw at the 12:34 mark. Pacific's 11 point lead would soon reach 13 when
Nate Olowo's (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) layup at 7:38 put the Boxers up 23-10 over the visiting Wildcats.
Linfield answered Olowo's make with a 9-0 run before
Christopher Evans (Seaside, Calif.) scored on a layup with 3:37 to halt the Wildcats scoring streak. Linfield outscored the Boxers 9-3 over the final 3:30 of the first half and headed to the locker room tied 28-28 with the Boxers at halftime.
Pacific started the second half, just like they did in the first half as they ran out on a 7-0 run with a jumper from Olowo, a layup by
Michael Joseph (Anchorage, Alaska) and a 3-pointer by
R.J. Collins (Hollister, Calif.). Collins' 3-pointer gave Pacific a seven-point lead, but was answered by a six-point Linfield run that cut Pacific's lead down to one.
The Boxers and Wildcats exchanged makes and saw Pacific hold a one-point advantage with 14:33 on the clock, but another Linfield run would swing the advantage the Wildcats' way with Linfield taking its first lead of the game at the 9:48 mark on a 3-point make.
Eight-straight points from Vince Romeo gave Linfield a six-point lead with 7:43 left in regulation.
Collins answered with five-straight points followed by a made free throw by
K.C. Harrison (Las Vegas, Nev.) as the Boxers tied the game at 48-48 with 2:21 remaining.
After a short Linfield advantage, the score knotted back up at 50-50 with 56 seconds remaining, but Linfield would outscore the Boxers 7-4 over the final 40 seconds to escape with a 57-54 road victory.
Ewell finished with 16 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Collins finished with 10 points. Harrison scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds on the night. After snagging 10 rebounds in the first half, Olowo finished the night with 14 rebounds, eight points, four assists and two blocked shots.
The Boxers next visit Lewis & Clark for a scheduled 6 p.m. tip-off against the Pioneers on Saturday.
