FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Pacific University hosted their Pacific Preview meet on Saturday at Hanson Stadium.  With nearly 500 athletes competing, the meet was very competitive and the Boxers were impressive at home.
 
The Boxer throws team has a tremendous meet.  Dianna Church (Bothell, Wash.) won the women's shot put with a personal best of 12.51m (41-0.5) while Karen Du (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.) finished second with a personal best of 11.90m (39-0.5).  Church and Du are now #2 and #4 on the All-Time Boxer list in the event.  Church also set a personal best while placing fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 40.96m (134-4) [#3 Pacific All-Time] while Du had a season best while finishing fourth in the discus throw (38.51m [127-1]).  2016 All-American Emily Sproul (Salem, Ore.) debuted outdoors with a mark of 35.66m (117-0) in the women's javelin, good for fifth place overall.  Jacob Duvall (Moses Lake, Wash.) won the men's discus throw with a personal best of 45.84m (150-5).  Brian King (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished second in the men's hammer with a season best of 45.44m (149-1).  Josh Huffman (Puyallup, Wash.) finished third with a mark of 13.77m (45-2.25) in the men's shot put.  Duvall is now second on the Pacific Top 10 List while King moves up to #6.  All seven throwing events mentioned above had at least 25 competitors.
 
Several additional Boxer individuals and relays finished in the top five in their event.  They included, for the women, Bailey Servoss (Mount Vernon, Wash.) winning the triple jump (10.89m [35-8.75]), Kelsey Lee (Monroe, Wash.) third in the 400 hurdles (66.52), Megan Eberhardt (Gig Harbor, Wash.) fourth in the 400 meters (62.35), Serena Wallace (Centralia, Wash.) fourth in the 5000 meters (18:18.23), Shannon Hammond (Forest Grove, Ore.) fourth in the triple jump (10.62m [34-10.25]) and fifth in the long jump (4.90m [16-1]) and Sophia O'Neal (Dixon, Calif.) fifth in the steeplechase (13:34.92).  Wallace set a personal best by 75 seconds in the 5000 and moved into fifth place on the Boxer All-Time List while Servoss improve a foot and a half in the triple jump and moved into third on the Boxer All-Time List.  For the men, top fives included Kolby Nikolaisen (Sumner, Wash.) winning the pole vault (3.96m [12-11.75]), Kaleb Bass (Slate Creek, Idaho) third in the 5000 meters (16:06.89), George Twigg-Smith (Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) third in the high jump (1.82m [5-11.5]), Nick Slenning (Portland, Ore.) fourth in the 5000 meters (16:09.57), Twigg-Smith fourth in the triple jump (13.10m [42-11.75]) and Kyle Eisenbeis (Bothell, Wash.) fifth in the 5000 meters (16:15.04).
 
The women's 4 x 100 (Eberhardt- Servoss-Jenna Hoiland (Oregon City, Ore.)-Marissa Smith (Rancho Cordova, Calif.) and 4 x 400 (Eberhardt-Jessica Knoll (Arlee, Mont.)-Smith-Lee) relays both finished third with respective times of 53.12 and 4:10.59.  The men's 4 x 100 relay (Sean Higinbotham (Phoenix, Ariz.)-Bailey Muller (Independence, Ore.)-Dalton Stanley (Puyallup, Wash.)-Alec Furst (Medford, Ore.)) finished third while the 4 x 400 (Bailey Muller-Dalton Stanley-Sean Higinbotham-Langston Engle (Bellingham, Wash.)) finished fourth with times of 44.54 and 3:30.20 respectively.
 
Pacific will compete again this coming weekend at the Lewis & Clark Spring Break Open.  The javelin and hammer throws will take place on Friday afternoon at Clackamas CC with the rest of the events at Lewis & Clark College on Saturday.
