Pacific Sweeps Salisbury, 9-0

The Pacific University won its final match of its east coast Spring Break trip with a 9-0 rout of Salisbury University on Tuesday in Salisbury, Maryland.

The Boxers (8-5), who have won seven of their last eight matches, posted its third 9-0 win on the season.

The match started with singles with Rayden Murata (Honolulu, Hawaii) picking up a 6-2, 6-0 win at the No. 6 flight. The next winner was Clark Wininger (San Francisco, Calif.) at No. 1, who won 6-2, 6-3 as he has won eight of his last nine matches.
 
With a 2-0 lead, Reuben Mulhern (Boise, Idaho) was the next victorious player for Pacific with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles. Then, at No. 5 singles, Sage Katayama (Mililani, Hawaii), who has won four of his last five matches was a 6-4, 6-2 winner.
 
Next, Josh Bernstein (Novato, California), who is the reigning NWC Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week, was a 7-5, 6-2 winner at No. 4 to clinch the match for the Boxers. Oscar Wight (Adelaide, Australia) completed the sweep of singles with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.
 
In doubles play, Mulhern and Bernstein won for the fourth time in five matches with an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles. Next, Wininger and Wight won for the ninth time in 10 matches with an 8-4 victory. The tandem of Murata and Ford Nakagawa (Aiea, Hawaii) completed the match sweep with an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.

Next, the Boxers will face Pacific Lutheran on Sunday, April 2 at 10:30 a.m. in Tacoma.
