A three-run third and a four-run fourth proved to be enough as Linfield posted a 7-2 win over the Pacific University baseball team at Chuck Bafaro Stadium on Sunday.

The Boxers (12-15, 7-14 NWC) found themselves behind for the third game in a row. Despite the loss, Boxers' third baseman
Taren Bradd (Medford, Ore.) went 3-for-4 with a run scored in the loss.
The Wildcats (17-9, 12-5 NWC) went ahead in the third inning as they capitalized on three errors by Pacific. Linfield starter Cal Neely raised his record to 4-0, scattering five hits and striking out seven.
Â
A RBI single plated the first run, then with runners on the corners, Linfield stretched the lead to three with a two-RBI double in the third. They added to their lead with four more runs in the fourth inning to make it a 7-0 contest. Three of the four runs came with two outs for the visitors from McMinnville. Two of the runs came in on a two-RBI double by Scott Halpert, who had a team-high two hits in the win.

Pacific got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the ninth on a two-RBI single by
Miles Jackson (pictured)Â (Bothell, Wash.), who entered the game in the third inning. Earlier in the inning, Bradd recorded his career-best third hit of the inning to put runners on second and third for the freshman from Bothell, Washington.

The next four games for the Boxers will be away from the rigors of the Northwest Conference but against nationally-ranked Occidental and Chapman in California. On Friday, April 7, Pacific will face Occidental in Orange, Calif. on the campus of Chapman University at 7 p.m..
