Lewis & Clark posted a 25-19, 21-25, 25-18, 16-25, 17-15 win over the Pacific University volleyball team on Friday night in Portland.
The Boxers (17-8, 10-5 NWC) were led by a 17-kill effort from
Jordan Zweifel, who hit .400 in the loss.
Ellie Parker had a double double with 46 assists and 11 digs in the loss. Also,
Milana Ivkovic added 12 kills and hit .250 as Paciifc hit .250 in the loss.
The Pioneers (13-6, 6-9 NWC) were led by a 14-kill effort from Kortney Meyer, who added 12 digs for a double double to lead Lewis & Clark. She was joined in double digits by Casey Myszkowski and Ka'anel Pakaki-Pias, who each had 12 kills to lead a squad that hit .141 in the win.
After the two teams traded the first four sets, the Pioneers opened the fifth set on a 4-0 until the Boxers rattled off four-straight points to tie the set at 4. The set remained close and went back and forth. The Boxers held a 13-10 lead after an attack error by the host Pioneers and a kill by Zweifel that prompted a timeout. Lewis & Clark came back with back-to-back kills by Myszkowski that forced a Pacific timeout. Then, the Boxers were unable to get the set and match point after a service error.
Next, back-to-back kills by Lewis & Clark gave the Pioneers its first set and match point. This time, it was Pacific who extended the match after a Lewis & Clark hitting error. The Pioneers managed to win the match, following a setting error and a service ace.
The Boxers will wrap up the 2018 season on Saturday at 5 p.m. when they host Puget Sound at the Stoller Center. Prior to the match, Pacific will honor its seniors –
