Sophomore
Davis Holly had a team-high 17 points to lead the Pacific University men's basketball team in a 98-75 loss to host Puget Sound on Saturday.
The Boxers' (11-12, 5-9 NWC)
Jay Merriweather and
Nate Olowo each added 10 in the loss for Pacific, who has lost five in a row.
The Loggers (16-6, 9-5 NWC) were led by Jimmy Wohrer, who had a game-high 22 points. Puget Sound forced 30 turnovers which they turned into 38 points in the win. Wohrer was joined in double figures by Max Basile and Stellan Roberts, who each had 16 and Zion Shepherd, who had 13.
After Pacific freshman
Chris Kobayashi hit a 3-pointer that put Pacific ahead 14-13, Puget Sound went on a 15-2 run to take a lead for the remainder of the contest. The Boxers managed to cut the deficit to seven, 36-29 on a layup by Merriweather with 4:47 left in the opening half. Six-straight points by the host Loggers put the lead at double digits for near the rest of the contest.
Twice in the second half, Pacific cut the Puget Sound lead to as little as eight. Each spurt by the Boxers was answered by the Loggers en route to the win.
Next, Pacific will come home for Senior Day where they will host Pacific Lutheran on Friday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. Prior to the game, seniors
