Pacific Drops Series Finale to Willamette

Willamette scored 11 runs in the first three innings en route to a 15-5 win over the Pacific University baseball team on Sunday evening in Forest Grove.

The Bearcats (7-7, 3-3 NWC) plated five runs each in the second and third inning and had 12 hits in the win. Perry Van Eckhart paced the offensive attack with three hits – two doubles and a home run – to go along with five runs scored and five RBI. Four more Bearcats - Connor Bailey, Jack Brett, Eric Del Prado and Tyler Janitz - each had two hits in the win.

The Boxers (8-6, 4-2 NWC) were paced by Chase Anderson (Federal Way, Wash.), and Derek Legeza (Peoria, Ariz.), who each had two hits for Pacific. Dylan Wright (Gilbert, Ariz.) and Ryan Krout (Washougal, Wash.) each had two RBI in the loss. Krout drove in a pair in the fourth and Wright brought in two for the Boxers in the fifth.
 
Willamette starter Brandon Nelson went seven innings, scattering six hits and struck out four in the win to improve to 2-2.

Next, Pacific travels to Newberg, Ore. to face George Fox for a three-game series. The action gets underway with a doubleheader on Saturday, Mar. 3 at 11 a.m.
