Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Boxers Lose NWC Opener to Linfield, 18-5

Senior Jordyn Godfrey (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) (pictured) and junior Jasmyne Adame-Contant (Marinez, Calif.) each scored twice as the Pacific women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-5 decision to Linfield at Ledbetter Field on Saturday.

The Boxers (0-2, 0-1 NWC) found themselves behind 2-0 in the opening minutes of the game before Godfrey scored her first of two goals after a penalty on the visitors from McMinnville. After another stretch of back to back goals by the Wildcats, Godfrey broke up a collapsing Linfield defense for her second goal of the contest. The two-goal effort by Godfrey is the 17th of her career and first of the young season, plus it is also the third time in her career that she has scored multiple goals against Linfield.

Between the posts, sophomore goalkeeper Ariel Watanabe (Colorado Springs, Colo.) had 12 saves in the loss between the posts. The 12 saves are the most since Adrienne Salzwedel had 15 in a 12-8 loss to George Fox, last year.

The Wildcats (1-0, 1-0 NWC) scored five unanswered goals after the Boxers had cut the lead to 4-2 in the opening half for a 9-2 halftime lead. Nathaly Sanchez and Genna Hughes each scored four and Maddie Cole and Alex Jensen each added three in the win.

After an early Linfield goal to start the second half, the Boxers' Shay Lee scored her first goal as a Boxer after a pass from Rebecca Aleman-Jimenez (Newark, Calif.) to trim the lead to 10-3. Then, Adame-Contant scored her first of two goals with just over 23 minutes left in the match. A Wildcats goal stretched the margin to seven, 11-4, with 21:55 left in the contest. Then, nearly two minutes later, Adame-Contant added her second goal of the contest to make it a 11-5 with 19:56 to play. Seven-straight goals by the Wildcats closed out the contest.

Next, Pacific will travel to Newberg, Ore. to face reigning Northwest Conference Champion, George Fox on Sunday at noon.
