Roya Tahmassebi Scores Six Goals in 17-13 Loss to Puget Sound

Puget Sound managed to post a 17-13 win over the Pacific University lacrosse team, despite a six-goal game from junior Roya Tahamassebi.

The Boxers (0-10, 0-7 NWC) who were playing with just 10 players raced out to an early 4-2 lead as four-different Boxers scored including Jasmyne Adame-Contant, Felicia Doblado, Sierra Watson and Tahmassebi. The goal by Watson at the 16:13 mark of the first half was her first collegiate goal.

The Loggers (2-8, 2-5 NWC) scored the next three goals after the early lead by Pacific for a 5-4 lead. Two of the goals were scored by Ella Frazer, who also finished the contest with six goals.

Doblado scored her second goal of the match with 4:24 left in the opening half to tie the game. The Loggers came back with two more goals to take a 7-5 advantage. Tahmassebi recorded her second goal, finding the back of the net just before half time to send the Boxers into the halftime break down 7-6.

After allowing a goal in the early seconds of the second half, Tahmassebi scored on back-to-back possessions to tie the game at 8 with 27:46 left to play. Two more goals by Puget Sound put the Loggers ahead for the remainder of the match. Twice in the final seven minutes, the Boxers rallied to cut the deficit to three.

In addition to the six goals by Tahmassebi, the Boxers' Doblado finished with three and Adame-Contant had two in the loss. In her first game as a goalkeeper, Shay Lee made 10 saves for Pacific.

Pacific will end its 2018 season with a trip to Walla Walla, Washington on Saturday, April 21 at noon to face Whitman.
