The challenge before the eyes of the Pacific University men's tennis team on Saturday was the No. 1 seed Whitman, who was No. 21 in the latest ITA NCAA Division III rankings and No. 3 in the West Region. The Blues came away with a 5-0 win over the Boxers, who are ranked No. 11 in the latest ITA West Region rankings and are led by its senior duo of
Oscar Wight and
Sage Katayama.

Whitman went ahead early 3-0 winning all three doubles matches including a tightly contested matchup at No. 1 doubles. The Pacific duo of Wight/
Rayden Murata lost in a tie breaker to Robert Carter/Zach Hewlin, 9-8 (8-6) in a matchup of two regionally-ranked doubles teams.

A pair of 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 2 and No. 5 singles by the Blues captured the victory and ended the match between the two teams.

Despite the loss, Pacific will be well represented with four competitors next at the Ojai Valley Tournament, Apr. 29-30 in Ojai, California.
