With temperatures in the high 80's, the Pacific men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Cross Country Regional meet hosted by Pomona-Pitzer College. The Boxer women finished 11th and the men finished 15th.
The Boxer women were led by sophomore
Kara Putman, who was the top finisher for Pacific for the first time in her young career, covering the 6k course in 24:16.6 en route to a 46th-place finish. Sophomore
Eliza Irish was the second Boxer across the line in 57th place and a time of 24:33.6, and Sophomore
Hannah Berdahl was 59th in 24:37.3. Freshman
Taylor Isaac wrapped up her first season for the Boxers, crossing the line in 24:43.2 (62nd). Sophomore
Kristi Echiverri posted a time of 24:53.9 (71st) and fellow sophomore
Kristin Pilgrim finished 25:02.7 (78th). Â
For the men, junior
Riley Stewart continued his strong third year with the Boxers, placing 61st with a time of 27:42.8. Behind him was freshman
Garet Neal in 79th in a time of 28:45.5, followed by
Garrett Stewart, who was 97th in 30:44.1 to round out the top three.
Brian Tinoco (99th, 32:41.6),
Jake Maze (100th, 33:24.4) and
Grant Brobeck (101st, 34:09.6).
The future is bright for both teams as nearly the entire roster will return in 2020 and the women spent most of the season within the top 10 of the West Region in the weekly USTFCCCA Coaches Poll. Many of the team members will take a few weeks off before begin its training for the upcoming track & field season. Â
