Four players with double doubles led the Pacific University volleyball team to a come-from-behind win over Linfield on Friday night in Forest Grove.
The Boxers (17-8, 10-5 NWC) –
Jordan Zweifel (13 kills, 18 digs),
Karlee Duncan (14 kills, 16 digs),
Nanea Lum (12 kills, 15 digs) and
Makenna Mahuna (45 assists, 16 digs) – hit .309 in the final three sets after a .230 hitting percentage in the first two sets.
The Wildcats (5-22, 1-14 NWC) were led by a double double from Mattie Kelly, who had a team-high 13 kills to go along with 15 digs in the set.
Pacific started the comeback with a .480 (13 kills and just one error) in the third set as Zweifel got on track with five kills.
After leading from start-to-finish in the third set, the Wildcats took a brief 5-3 until a four-straight points that included a service ace by Duncan put Pacific ahead for the remainder of the set. The Boxers managed to out hit Linfield, .227 to -.089 as the Boxers secured the set by a 25-14 margin to even the match at two sets apiece.
The fifth set saw Pacific race out to a 5-1 lead and prompt the visitors to call a timeout. The Wildcats clawed back and managed to cut the deficit to 6-5 before three-straight points including another Duncan service ace put the Boxers ahead for the remainder of the set. Pacific hit .267 in the final set with three kills by
Milana Ivkovic and the Boxer frontline came up away with a pair of blocks.
Next, Pacific will close out its season on Saturday with a 6 p.m. match against Willamette. Prior to the contest, the Boxers will honor its four seniors –
Mackenzie Brown,
Karlee Duncan,
Kierstin Evenson and
Milana Ivkovic.
