An insurance run in the bottom of the sixth proved to be the difference as Chaminade managed to edge the Pacific softball team by a 2-1 margin on Thursday night in Waipahu, Hawaii.
The Boxers (4-3) had the tying run on first before a game-ending ground out ended the contest.
Kaitlynn Donaca had two of the Boxers' four hits for her second multi-hit game of the season.
The Silverswords (1-2) held a 1-0 lead after a solo home run by Kiana Ulufale in the second inning.
The Boxers kept the 'Swords off the scoreboard on the strength of its defensive play. A two out, bases loaded walk to Ashlyn Yagin stretched the lead to 2-0 in favor of the home team.
A resilient Pacific squad saw the Boxers start the seventh with a single by
Hailey Miller, who advanced to second when the Chaminade misplayed the ball and into scoring pinch. Following a ground out that moved pinch runner
Lilly Meek to third base,
Amanda Machado (

The two teams started the nightcap before rain forced the game to be suspended. The game will resume on Friday at 3 p.m. (HST) and 5 p.m. (PST) as the Boxers have jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning. Following the conclusion of that game, the two teams will play its scheduled doubleheader.
