The Pacific University softball team split a doubleheader with NCAA Division II Hawaii Pacific University, losing game one, 9-5 and winning game two, 6-2.
The Boxers, who were rained out on Friday, battled back from early 7-0 deficit in the first game. Pacific managed seven hits in the contest, including a pair by
Hailey Miller and
Jill Uyeda. Plus, Uyeda accounted for two of the four RBIs to lead the offense.
Trailing 7-0, Pacific got on the scoreboard with a three-run fourth inning. Two of the three runs came in on a two-RBI double by Uyeda for the Boxers. After HPU added to its lead in the fifth, Pacific got a run on the third home run of the season by
Montana Vaught, making it an 8-4 contest in the sixth. Hawaii Pacific got the run back in its half of the inning, capitalizing on a Boxer error. A RBI single by

Nicole Martinez triple plated the final run of the game for the Boxers, who stranded a pair of base runners in the final inning.
The nightcap was an offensive explosion for the Boxers, who had 13 hits and a pair of Boxer pitchers limited the Sharks to just four hits en route to the 6-2 win. Six-different Boxers had two hits including Vaught, who hit a 3-run home run in the sixth inning to spark the visitors.
The two teams each plated a run in the first inning before Pacific took its first lead of the day on a RBI ground out by Miller, who brought in Martinez. With a one-run lead, Pacific added another run on a sacrifice fly by Martinez to put the Boxers ahead 3-1.
Hawaii Pacific managed to cut the Boxers lead to one, scoring a run on two hits to make it a one-run game. After a scoreless fifth, Martinez reached base on a single and
Kaitlynn Donaca got on with a walk to put runners on first and second to set the stage for the three-run home run by Vaught.
Morgan Masters got the win for the Boxers, scattering four hits over two runs (one earned) and a strikeout to improve to 3-1.
Rylee Patton pitched the final 3.2 innings, giving up just one walk to close out the contest for Pacific.
The two teams will wrap up the weekend with a doubleheader on Sunday to Sand Island Softball Field in Honolulu.
