Ryan Krout became the first player since Kurtis Kloke (April 7, 2017) to hit multiple home runs in a game to propel the Pacific University baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of Whitman on Saturday. The Boxers won game one by a 5-1 margin and game two by an 8-7 advantage.

Pacific (14-6, 8-3 NWC) is now 8-3 at the friendly confines of Chuck Bafaro Stadium on the season.

Game one was an all-around team win for the Boxers with
Chase Anderson and
Dustin Meyer having multiple hits and starting pitcher
Casey Brown going the distance for his fourth complete game of the season.

Game two was a career game for Krout, who went 4-for-5 including two home runs with three runs scored and four RBI. Not to be lost in the heroics by Krout was
Tyler Oscarson, who pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the eighth for the win.

The day began with the Boxers breaking a 1-1 tie with a four-run eighth inning for the game one win. In the inning,
Jacob Igawa started the inning with a double down the right-field line. Then, a bunt single by
Dylan Morgan put runners on the corners for
Derek Legeza, who put the Boxers ahead with a sacrifice fly.

Next, the Boxers added to their lead when
Chase Anderson ripped a triple down the right-field line to score Morgan from second for the second run of the inning.
Dustin Meyer brought in Anderson for the third run of the inning on a single, following a Blues' pitching change. Then,
Eli Wisdom got a RBI ground out for the fourth run of the inning.

The nightcap saw the Boxers and Blues combine for 23 hits and 15 runs. The back-and-forth battle was not decided until the second home run of the day by Krout in the bottom of the 9
th.

Whitman took an early 3-0 lead before the Boxers came back with four runs in the third inning – three of which came in on a three-run home run by Krout. Pacific held a 4-3 lead until the Blues regained the lead when they plated a run in fourth and two more in the fifth for a 6-4 lead.

Again, the long ball brought the Boxers back – this time, it was off the bat of
Dustin Meyer, who hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 6. Pacific regained the lead with a RBI double by
Derek Ridgway, scoring Krout in the seventh. Whitman managed to tie the game at seven in the eighth on a walk with the bases loaded walk.

With the game tied at 7 and with two out, the first pitch to Krout in the bottom of the ninth by Blues' reliever Tristan Kainins found itself over the left-field wall.

The two teams will wrap up the weekend series with a single game at noon on Sunday.
