Quinn Leads Pacific Baseball to 14-6 Non-Conference Win Over Linfield

A first inning grand slam by junior Trevor Quinn sparked the Pacific University baseball team to a 14-6 win over Linfield in a non-conference game on Monday in McMinnville.

Quinn finished the game with seven RBI and a team-high three hits to lead a 12-hit attack for the Boxers, who raise their record to 24-16 as they head into this week's Northwest Conference Baseball Tournament.

The offense was not just Quinn as Brandon Silowka had two hits and two RBI, plus Andrew Thomas and Derek Ridgway each had two hits in the win. Senior starter Matt Selinger got the win after a three-inning outing, where he struck out two to raise his record to 1-1.

Linfield (7-29) managed 11 hits against six-different pitchers for Pacific, including a three-hit game by Ayden Allen. The sophomore catcher for the Wildcats accounted for two runs and added two RBIs in the loss.

Quinn and the Boxers built a 7-4 lead through the first three innings before adding four more in the fifth. After taking a seven-run lead, the Wildcats cut into the lead with a run each in the fifth and sixth to make it a 11-6 contest before the Pacific offense came back alive late in the contest. The Boxers added a run in the eighth on just two hits and two more runs in the ninth on just one hit for the final margin.

Next, Pacific will face Whitman in its opening round game of the Northwest Conference Tournament on Friday at 3 p.m. on the campus of Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash.
