Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Carolan Leads Boxers Past Lewis & Clark

The Pacific University women's basketball team returned to its winning ways with a 61-54 win over Lewis & Clark on Friday night.

The Boxers (14-4, 8-1 NWC) extended its home winning streak to six in the process. Pacific junior Courtney Carolan scored a game-high 20 points for her fifth 20+ scoring effort on the season and first since a 20 point effort against Whitworth on January 18.

Plus, freshman teammate Brilie Kovaloff added 14 points for her seventh-straight game in double figures.

The Pioneers  (2-16, 1-9 NWC) were led by a double double effort from Delsie Johnson, who led Lewis & Clark with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

Pacific started the game on a 7-2 run and led from start to finish en route to the win. Five of the seven points came from Kovaloff, who helped the Boxers build the lead to as much as much as 11 in the opening half.
In the second half, Pacific managed to extend its lead to as much as a game-high 15 after scoring seven unanswered points midway through the third quarter.  A 14-3 run to start the fourth quarter by the visitors cut the Pacific lead to three, 50-47 with 4:33 left in the contest.

Next, Carolan hit her second 3-pointer of the game en route as the Boxers scored five unanswered points. The Spokane Valley native had 10 points in the final 10 minutes to end the comeback hopes for the visitors.

Next up for Pacific is a trip to McMinnville on Saturday at 4 p.m. against Linfield. Earlier this season, the Boxers edged the Wildcats by a 68-64 margin in the conference opener for both teams in Forest Grove.
