The Pacific University baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Puget Sound, losing game one, 5-3 and winning game two, 12-4.
The Boxers (2-5) were limited to six hits in game one before coming back with a 14-hit effort in the nightcap.
Game one saw the Boxers take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning before the Loggers came back to tie it in the second inning. Puget Sound managed to take the lead, scoring a pair in the seventh on a two-RBI single by Corey Roberts. Then, they added another run in the top of the ninth for a 5-2 lead.
Despite a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth, the Boxers were unable to complete the comeback.
Mason Quinlan led the 13-hit attack for Puget Sound and the Loggers used four pitchers including Peter Fagan, who pitched 1.1 inning of one-hit relief for the win.
The nightcap saw the Boxers bats explode for 16 hits, including four from
Dylan Morgan, who went 4-for-4 with three RBI to lead the offense.

Starting pitcher
Gavin Bullock went five innings, allowing just two hits before handing the ball over to
Tyler Nakata, who pitched the lasts four innings and striking out seven. Bullock got the win on the day, raising his record to 2-0.
