FOREST GROVE, Ore.- The Pacific University men's soccer team dropped a home contest on Sunday afternoon to Willamette University. The Bearcats were able to put the final deciding goal in the back of the net in the 84
th minute to secure the 2-1 victory.
Â
Pacific (6-8-2, 3-6-2 NWC) was able to play Willamette (10-3-1, 8-2-1 NWC) fairly even in the first half. The Bearcats were able to claim a 1-0 lead going into halftime when Andrew Reed in the 44
th minute was able to put home a shot after the ball had been lost in a mix of Bearcats and Boxers.
Â
In the first 38 minutes of the second half, the Boxers allowed five shots from the Bearcats before Pacific was able to take the first shot on the half. This shot, however, would produce an equalizer as the rebound came off the keeper to the foot of
Noah Edwards (Freshman/ Honolulu, HI) who was able to put it in the back of the net from inside the 6-yard box. The Bearcats were able to score what would be the game deciding goal only one minute and thirty-three seconds later off the foot of Mack van der Velde on another ball that was lost within the mix in front of the Boxers goal.
