Boxers Remain Undefeated After Win Over Tigers

FOREST GROVE, Ore.- The Pacific University women's basketball team remains undefeated after another solid performance from Camy Aguinaldo (Senior/Honolulu, HI) led the Boxers to a 81-62 victory over Colorado College to open up the Ken Schumann Classic inside the Stoller Center.

The Boxer point guard dropped a season-high 28 points on 53% shooting. Aguinaldo also dished out nine assists and pulled down seven rebounds.

Pacific was feeling it from three-point range as they hit 11-of-24 shots from beyond the arc. The Boxers were quite efficient on the night as they shot 42.3% from the floor with just eight turnovers.

Brilie Kovaloff (Junior/Honolulu, HI) finished in double figures with 15 points in the contest, hitting three shots from the perimeter while Jayden Ray (Freshman/Hermiston, OR) poured in nine points. Hannah Stein (Sophomore/Eugene, OR) chipped in with eight points and two three-pointers in her 13 minutes on the floor.

How It Happened

Aguinaldo continued her hot start to the season with a three-pointer followed by a layup on the Boxers' first two possessions to put her team out in front. The two teams would trade buckets for majority of the quarter until Gray knocked down a three of her own to extend the Pacific lead to seven points (21-14).

The Boxers would lead by as many as 10 points in the second period behind a couple big baskets from Kovaloff. Colorado College would manage to hang around and remain within striking distance at the halftime whistle, trailing by just seven points (38-31).

Ray opened up the second half by nailing a deep three-pointer to quickly make it a 10-point advantage for the hosts. After the visitors hit a three-ball cut the deficit, two-free throws and layup from Aguinaldo would help keep the Tigers at bay. Stein would follow by knocking down back-to-back shots from beyond the arc to make the score 56-43 at the three-minute mark in the third quarter. The Boxers would finish the third period strong as Ray would hit another triple and Aguinaldo provided a craft finish in the lane to make it 65-50 going into the final 10 minutes.

The Boxers would cruise to the finish line in the fourth quarter as Aguinaldo finished the second half with 18 points in the final two periods. Some solid defense would get Pacific over the line as they would improve to 4-0 after their 81-62 victory.
