REDLANDS, Calif.- The Pacific University women's basketball team dropped a contest on Saturday afternoon in California to the University of Redlands. Camy Aguinaldo (Senior/Honolulu, HI) recorded a career-high 29 points in the 91-78 loss.

The Boxers got off to a slow start to open the contest against Redlands. The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 10-2 lead. After trailing by eight, the Boxers were able to take a one-point lead, 15-14 behind three shots from deep. Two of the shots in the scoring run came from Sydney Gray (Junior/Central Point, OR) while Aguinaldo contributed one of her own. The Bulldogs would go on a 15-9 scoring run over the last 3:51 of the first quarter. The Bulldog run was highlighted by a buzzer beater shot from 3-point range to close the quarter.

The Boxers came out strong in the second quarter on the defensive end forcing a missed shot in the first possession then forcing two turnovers on subsequent Redlands possessions. Bulldogs forward Hannah Jerrier had 14 points in the first quarter but the Pacific defense was able to adjust as they held her to just two points in the second period. At the halftime break, the Boxers trailed the hosts 48-39.

The Boxers were led in the first half by Aguinaldo who had 15 points while Gray recorded nine, making all three of her shot attempts from long range. Kaylee-Brooke Manuel (Junior/Nakakuli, HI) provided strong minutes off the bench pulling down three rebounds in the first half.

Similar to the start of the game, the Boxers started the second half slowly on the offensive end. Although the shots did not fall at a steady rate for the Boxers, they were able to get to the line 14 times in the quarter making nine of the attempts. The Boxers were able to get this advantage at the line through aggressive drives on offense and getting into the bonus with 3:55 remaining in the period. The Boxers trailed 68-57 at the conclusion of the third quarter.

Rilee Price (Junior/Brea, CA) was able to make it a single digit game on the first possession of the fourth quarter when she knocked down a three-pointer from straight away to make it 68-60. The Boxers would not go away as the quarter wore down, Aguinaldo was able to convert an And-1 with 3:13 left to play to put the Boxers down 80-70. The visitors from Oregon would run out of time, however, and drop the contest 91-78.
