FOREST GROVE, Ore.- The Pacific men's basketball team is locked and loaded for an exciting 2021-22 campaign under Head Coach
Justin Lunt. Featuring a large roster with a host of returning talent with some promising youngsters, the fast-paced Boxers will look to make a historic run towards the postseason.
"We are thankful to be back on the court and competing," Lunt said. "We love our experience with our returners, and how they mix in with some talented newcomers. Our culture and internal leadership are at an all-time high and we are looking forward to getting going on the court."
In 2019-20, the team's last full season of competition, a young Boxers squad finished with a record of 7-18 (4-12 NWC). Pacific went 4-8 (3-5 NWC) in the shortened 2021 spring season.
Pacific will feature an extremely high-tempo style of basketball that will seek to force a multitude of turnovers and buckets in transition. Nearly every rostered play will touch the floor in each and every game as the Boxers will attempt to get fresh bodies on to the court, looking to out-pace their opponents.
Lunt's team forced 21.6 turnovers-per-game in the 2019-20 season and will look to increase that number in the upcoming slate. Shooting almost 900 three-pointers that season, the Boxers will look to make the most of their shots from beyond the arc in 2021-22. Pacific will certainly be a fun watch this season, but with multiple members of the starting five coming back for another run, the Boxers will look to make some noise come March.
Returners
Guard
Mario Mora (Senior/Bend, OR) will lead the Boxers' backcourt. The senior has showcased his ball-handling and shooting abilities, shooting 37.3% from three-point range with just 10 turnovers in the entire 2019-20 season.
Jared Cattell (Senior/Bremerton, WA) is another experienced senior who will be called upon on the offensive end. The guard averaged 5.7 points-per-game in Pacific's last full season as he looks to carry out a more expansive role this winter.
In the frontcourt,
Jacob Bolger (Junior/Portland, OR) brings height, length, and athleticism to the squad. Bolger is a 6'6" force who can make a lasting impact on both ends of the floor.
Ethan Moss (Senior/Los Angeles, CA) was one of the Boxers' top scorers in the abbreviated spring season and
Isaiah Africano (Junior/Pearl City, HI) will also return to make some significant contributions in his junior year.
