Eager to get the season rolling the Pacific women's lacrosse team took to the field at home on Wednesday evening hosting Corban University in non-conference action and were locked in a battle that went down to the wire.
The Boxers traded the lead multiple times with the Warriors of Corban throughout the contest but ultimately it was Corban taking the 14-12 win moving Pacific to 0-1 to start the season.
Over the first seven and half minutes of the contest the teams traded goals with
Sydney Bierenkoven and
Hyland Cullen-Musengo each registering a goal for the Boxers but Pacific trailed 3-2. The Boxers then put together a 3-0 run and scored five of the next seven goals tallied in the contest as Cullen-Musengo tallied two more goals, Bierenkoven chipped in another while
Vivian Mai and
Amber Lancia each recorded a goal. Pacific led 7-5 with just under 13 minutes left in the first half. First half would see seven more goals between the two teams including a 4-0 run by Corban during that stretch and at the half the Boxers trailed 10-9.
The second half both teams locked in defensively more and goals were less frequent with the Boxers getting a pair of goals from Bierenkoven and one from
Katrina Boyd, while Corban tallied four second half goals. Boxers made a late push but were unable to tie the contest up late and suffered the 14-12 loss.
Bierenkoven and Cullen-Musengo paced the Boxers with five and four goals, respectively in the contest while Mai, Boyd and Lancia each chipped in a goal.
Madyson Ivey and
Amelia Haindl both saw action at goalie.
The Boxers are back in action on Saturday, March 13th on the road in a non-conference contest against a fellow Northwest Conference school, George Fox.
