Despite 15 points from senior Camy Aguinaldo, the Pacific University women's basketball team dropped a 70-48 decision to George Fox in the 2020-21 season opener for the Boxers on Thursday night.
Aguinaldo and the Boxers, who held George Fox off the scoreboard over the final 2:22 of the contest, were playing in their first game since the Feb. 20, 2020 matchup against the Bruins in the semifinals of the 2020 Northwest Conference Tournament.Â
The Bruins (3-1) landed a trio of players in double figures as seven players broke into the scoring column in the win. Cassidy Posey led all scorers with 17 points, she was joined in double figures by Rachel Parks and Mackenzie Lewis, who added 16 and 14 points respectively.
The Boxers (0-1) picked up nine points from reserve freshman Kaysie Watanabe, who came off the bench to score three 3-pointers in her Pacific debut.
Pacific built an early 10-4 lead in the first two minutes of the contest until the Bruins came back with a game-deciding 18-2 run to end the quarter for a 22-12 lead after the opening 10 minutes. The closest Pacific would get for the remainder of the contest would be a 14-point deficit.Â
The two teams will face one another again on Saturday, March 27 at 6 p.m. in Newberg.
