Boxer Softball Splits Weekend Series with Lewis & Clark

The Pacific University softball team concluded the 2021 regular season over the weekend by splitting two games with Lewis & Clark. The series was split with 2 games on Saturday at Lewis & Clark and the other 2 games played Sunday in Forest Grove.
 
Game one went the way of the Pioneers 6-5 despite a final effort from the Boxers falling short. The Boxers were down 3-0 entering the 6th inning when Montana Vaught doubled scoring a run. The Boxers kept the scoring going in the inning when Hailey Miller homered to centerfield driving in 3 more runs. Cheyenne Datan added a solo homerun in the top of the 7th pinch hitting.
 
Game two was won by the Pioneers 5-4 following a walkoff 2-run homerun in the bottom of the 7th inning. Pacific got off to a strong start in the top of the 1st following a 2-run homerun from Hailey Miller. Pacific was able to score two more runs in the 6th after an RBI sacrifice fly from Sydney Sahlfeld and a RBI single off the bat of Marcee Nakamura.
 
Game three was Sunday in Forest Grove with the Boxers claiming a 5-1 victory. The trio of Allie Hancock, Carly Bursch and Rylee Patton pitched 7 innings while giving up 6 hits and only 1 earned run. The Boxers were led by Nicole Martinez, Kiana Kushiyama and Jill Uyeda who each recorded 3 hits in the game.
 
The Boxers started right where they left off in game four putting 3 runs up in the top of the 1st on the way to a 10-1 victory in 5 innings. The Boxers recorded 6 extra base hits in the game. In her last time playing in Forest Grove, senior Montana Vaught fell one single short of hitting for the cycle while recording a double, triple and homerun accounting for 5 RBI's. Allie Hancock pitched a complete game giving up 1 earned run on 5 hits.
 
The Boxers concluded the 2021 spring season with a 17-19 record and a 12-14 record in conference play.
