Box Score 2 SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The Pacific University Volleyball team opened their season at the Kathryne Pals Legacy Invitational hosted by University of Northwestern.
The Boxers faced the host team in the opening match of the day. Pacific fell in three straight sets to #20 University of Northwestern, 17-25, 15-25, 21-25. Pacific was able to pick up some momentum during the third set, but were unable to close it out despite tying the set at 6 different points.Â
The Boxer offense collected 32 kills in the three-set match. In her first match as a Boxer, Allie Hertager (Medford, OR) tallied a team high nine kills. Elika Unti (Castro Valley, CA) balanced the Boxer offense with eight kills on an errorless 18 attempts. Senior Haley Walz (Tucson, AZ) paced the Boxers with a match high 19 digs.Â
The Boxers bounced back in match two as they took down Wisconsin Lutheran in three straight sets, 28-26, 25-21, 25-22.
The Boxer defense held the Warriors to a .095 hitting percentage. The Boxer block tallied nine blocks in the match. Senior Carissa Ramirez (Hillsboro, OR) collected a match high five blocks, two block solos and three block assists. Walz finished with another match high dig total of 18.Â
Hertager sent home nine kills on the night while Ramirez contributed 8 of her own while hitting a cool .412. Setter Shaianne Cambra (Kapolei, HI) paced the Boxer offense, dishing out 24 assists.
The Boxers will be back in action tomorrow as they take on University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and Bethel University on day two of the Kathryne Pals Legacy Invitational.Â
