Boxers Honor Five Seniors; Compete in Final NWC Dual Meet

FOREST GROVE, Ore.- The Pacific University men's and women's swimming teams celebrated Senior Day at the Forest Grove Aquatic Center where seniors Hannah Brandow, Julia Crumb, Adrienne Powell and Hung Huynh would compete in their home facility for the final time.
 
Ethan Hunter also concluded his swimming career in 2022 as he took part in the ceremony as well.

Women
 
In the first event of the day, Hannah Brandow (Senior/Eugene, OR), Julie Abrigonde (Junior/Reno, NV), Allison Simon (Sophomore/Chula Vista, CA), and Madelyn Russell (Sophomore/Simi Valley, CA) teamed up in the 200-yard medley relay earned four points for the Boxers with their second-place time of 1:58.12.
 
Abrigonde and Anne Marie Grieder-Jacobs (Freshman/Portland, OR) finished in first and second place in the 100-yard backstroke. Abrigonde touched the wall at 1:03.23 and Grieder-Jacobs posted a time of 1:05.17. 
 
Julia Crumb (Senior/North Bend, WA) finished second in the 400-yard IM with a time of 5:09.20 and cruised to another second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:32.85).
 
In 200-yard backstroke, Brandow grabbed second place with a time of 2:16.93. Simon followed with a second-place time of 2:47.43 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
 
Racing in the Forest Grove Aquatic Center for the final time, Crumb took the top spot in the 500-yard freestyle with an impressive time 5:45.58.
 
Brandow then picked up a first-place finish of her own in the 200-yard IM (2:28.35). In the final women's event, the 200-yard freestyle relay, Abrigonde, Simon, Grieder-Jacobs, and Brandow raced to first place (1:47.80).
 
Men
 
Josh Joireman (Junior/Pullman, WA) picked up third place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.91 and earned second in the 100-yard freestyle (50.50).
 
Hung Huynh (Senior/Billings, MT) grabbed second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.66) then swam to first place in the 100-yard butterfly with at time of 56.33 with Benjamin Jones (Junior/Vancouver, WA) right behind him in second place (1:13.78).

Pacific close their 2022 campaign at the NWC Championships starting on Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. hosted at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.
