Pacific men battle Whitman to 0-0 tie

Pacific's defense continued to lead Saturday, holding one of the top players in the Northwest Conference in check.

"I'm really proud of Camden Wyatt and Aidan Pierias for taking on the challenge of Edwin Romero and holding him to very little to nothing," Pacific coach Brandon Porter said. "He's probably one of the best players in the conference. To see them lock that guy up and frustrate him, as two sophomores, is really, really encouraging."

While Romero didn't attempt a shot in 63 minutes of action, the Boxers also struggled offensively, finishing with just two shots on goal in a 0-0 tie against Whitman.

"We just didn't generate enough going forward to make them really pay for letting us dictate the game in spells," Porter said. "I saw a lot of people take some really good individual steps forward, and show that they have a lot of grit and also in moments of the game had clarity and were able to play and show a little bit more maturity on the ball against a very talented team."

Pacific goalkeeper Zach Aderinto had two saves to record his fifth shutout of the season.

Next, the Boxers host Whitworth Sunday back at Hanson Stadium.

"We want to see a continuation of today and build on that and hopefully be able to go forward a little bit better against a really, really dangerous Whitworth team," Porter said.
