Sam Altman finished his Pacific soccer career the same way her started it, by scoring a goal.
Altman, who scored in his debut against Multnomah in 2021, nearly missed his entire senior season with an injury, but returned Sunday just in time to put the ball in the back in the net in a 3-1 victory over Willamette.Â
After freshman
Caden Matsumoto scored in the ninth minute to give the Boxers a 1-0 lead on senior day, Altman fired a shot from way outside the box in the 37th minute that sailed over the goalkeeper's head and into the net. Junior
Aidan Heflin recorded the assist on the play.Â
After the Bearcats scored late in the first half to get within 2-1, freshman
Donovan Jaramillo gave Pacific breathing room with a goal in the 67th minute.
Goalkeeper
Zach Aderinto recorded four saves.Â
The three goals were the most the Boxers had scored since defeating Lewis & Clark 4-0 on Sept. 17.Â
With back-to-back wins on Friday and Sunday against Linfield and Willamette, Pacific finished the 2023 season 5-9-6 overall and 5-8-3 in the Northwest Conference.Â
