Over its first 90 minutes of the 2023 season, Pacific only allowed two shots on goal.
But the Boxers struggled to create scoring opportunities themselves, tying Portland Community College 0-0 on a hot Saturday afternoon at Hanson Stadium.
Pacific used the exhibition to play many different lineups. Senior
Conor Barres was the only player to start both the first and second half.Â
After getting penalized for snagging a ball outside the goal area, backup goalkeeper
Keolakupono Mataele made a diving save on a Panthers free kick in the 50th minute to keep the game tied 0-0.
Luis Rojas Celis also saw time at goalkeeper for the Boxers after starter
Zach Aderinto played the entire first half.
Pacific returns to Hanson Stadium for another exhibition when the Boxers take on Evergreen State Sunday at 7 p.m.
Pacific then opens the regular season Sept. 1 at Multnomah.Â
