Pacific finished its home portion of the Oregon Trail Classic strong, sweeping McMurry 3-0 Friday night inside the Stoller Center.
 
"It's fun to play in front of our home crowd," Pacific head coach Kip Yoshimura said. "We just have a different spark at home."
 
While the Boxers didn't drop a set, the victory did not come easy. Down 22-24 in the first set, Pacific rallied to score four straight points to win 26-24. 
 
After winning the second set 25-17, the Boxers faced an even bigger hole in the third set, falling behind 21-24 before closing the game on a 5-0 run to win the match. 
 
Mara Murphy had three kills in the final run. The junior outside hitter finished the match with 23 kills and two aces. 
 
Deborah Chun added 12 kills and eight digs. Emily Cheavtharn recorded 44 assists. 
 
"Probably the most promising thing from the weekend is the ability for us to switch up our lineups and prove that we can win just about with any combination," Yoshimura said. 
 
The Boxers opened the day with a 3-1 win over Loras College.
 
Leading 2-0, Pacific lost the third set 18-25, but rebounded to dominate the fourth 25-10.
 
Chun led the Boxers with 19 kills, six aces and two blocks. Alison Brown (16) and Kayla Craft (11) also posted double digit kills.
 
Cheavtharn finished the match with 46 assists and 15 digs. Danica Nelson adde 22 digs. 
 
Pacific wraps up play in the Oregon Trail Classic Saturday at Linfield against West Coast Baptist.
