WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- That one hurt.
CJ Colyer hit two more home runs to give Pacific a three-run lead heading into the bottom of the ninth inning.
But the Boxers couldn't slam the door shut as No. 1 Whitman scored four runs to walk-off with a 4-3 win Friday afternoon in the opening game of the 2024 Northwest Conference Baseball Tournament.
Tied 0-0 after five innings, Colyer homered to put Pacific on top 1-0 in the top of the sixth. After
Hunter Zielasko scored on a ground ball by Ty Yukutomo in the seventh, Colyer homered again in the ninth to give the Boxers a 3-0 lead.
Pacific used seven different pitchers in the game.
Chance Wallace got the start, allowing one hit and two walks over two scoreless innings.
Colyer took the loss after allowing two hits, three walks and four runs in one inning.
Entering the game with the bases loaded, one out and the Boxers holding on to a 3-2 lead,
Joey Harmon hit a Whitman batter to tie the game at 3-3.
Harmon got a ground ball to third base for a force out at home before the Blues hit a walk-off single to left field to end the game.
Saturday, Whitman will play No. 2 Willamette, who defeated No. 3 Whitworth 5-1, while Pacific will play Whitworth at 10 a.m. in a must-win game to remain in the tournament.
